What Data We Collect
GrokCheck collects minimal data to provide our service:
- User ID: A randomly generated identifier (e.g., "user_1729000000_abc123") stored in your browser's localStorage. This is used solely to track your free trial usage (3 free comparisons) and daily limits.
- Tweet Content: When you click "Compare AIs" on a tweet, we temporarily process the tweet's text and URL to generate AI responses. This content is only used for analysis and is cached for performance.
- Usage Statistics: We log comparison counts and timestamps to enforce usage limits and prevent abuse.
What We Don't Collect
- We do NOT collect your name, email, or any personally identifiable information (unless you voluntarily provide it for premium subscription)
- We do NOT access your X/Twitter account, DMs, or private information
- We do NOT track your browsing history outside of X/Twitter
- We do NOT sell your data to third parties
How We Use Your Data
Your data is used exclusively for:
- Providing AI comparison functionality
- Enforcing free tier limits (3 comparisons)
- Managing premium subscriptions (if applicable)
- Improving service performance through caching
Data Storage
- User ID: Stored locally in your browser (localStorage)
- Usage Data: Stored in our secure MongoDB database
- Cached Responses: Stored for 7 days to improve performance and reduce costs
Third-Party Services
GrokCheck uses the following third-party services:
- AI APIs: Grok (X AI), Claude (Anthropic), ChatGPT (OpenAI) - Tweet text is sent to these services for analysis
- Stripe: Payment processing for premium subscriptions (Stripe handles all payment data)
- MongoDB Atlas: Database hosting for usage logs and cached responses
- Railway: Backend server hosting
Data Retention
- Cached AI responses are automatically deleted after 7 days
- Usage logs are retained for billing and analytics purposes

Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Request deletion of your data
- Stop using the extension at any time
- Clear your user ID by clearing browser localStorage
